Week thirty July 22nd - July 29th
Sow spring cabbages in the last week of July and the first week of August . Make two sowings of two varieties in the two weeks, one early and one late, in order to cover all the options that winter might have in store.
Prepare a bed for sowing Japanese onions between the 14th and 18th of August or as soon after as weather permits. Summer prune apple trees. Take softwood cuttings of fuchsias. Sow winter radish choosing from Black Spanish, China Rose, and Long Black Spanish. Sow lettuce Avondefiance and Avoncrisp. Sow spring onion White Lisbon Winter Hardy for a late autumn early winter crop. Plant a row of early potatoes to crop in November.
