Diary week six

Week six Feb 5th - Feb 11th

In Southern districts, first outdoor Shorthorn carrots can be sown in a warm border if the weather is mild. Give them protection if weather turns too harsh. Broad beans can be sown from now on at two weekly intervals for successional crops until early summer. Onions, peas, lettuce and radish can all be sown under cloches for the earliest, most valuable, crops. Seed sowing in the Greenhouse, in the airing cupboard and on the kitchen window sill now begins in earnest. Tomato seeds should be sown now. Continue pruning fruit trees..
